Police car stolen as officers chase alleged Cloverdale burglar

A MARKED police car was stolen last night after officers left the vehicle to give chase to an alleged offender on foot.

About 8.15pm last night police were in the Cloverdale area responding to a reported burglary.

Officers stopped their marked Holden Commodore on Williamson Avenue after seeing a man running down the street.

Officers exited the vehicle, chasing the man through a number of properties before arresting him in the rear yard of a residence on Hardey Road.

During the time that officers were away from the Police vehicle, an unknown person has stolen it.

Police were advised that just after 8:30pm the Commodore had crashed into the rear of a black Toyota Camry on Wright Street.

The offender fled the scene and has not been located by Police.

The sole occupant of the Camry, a man in his 30’s, was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital with neck pain and was discharged just after 11pm.

A man arrested at the property in Hardey Road, a 29-year-old from Ascot, has been charged with aggravated home burglary and commit, and stealing.

He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
