Police charge children after crash in stolen car in Como

THREE girls and a boy have been charged following a crash in Como yesterday morning, which left an 11-year-old in hospital with serious injuries.

At about 12.30am police observed a Honda CRV travelling north on the Mitchell Freeway, which had been stolen during a robbery in Rivervale a few days earlier.

Officers attempted to stop the Honda, however it is alleged that the driver attempted to evade police, turning right onto Mill Point Road in South Perth.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle shortly after and their attempt to stop the vehicle was aborted.

The Honda was located a short time later after it had crashed into a fence and a parked car at a car park on Preston Street in Como.

Police apprehended an 18-year-old woman, six girls aged between 11 and 17 years of age and an 11 -year-old boy.

A 15-year-old girl from Redcliffe has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly, no authority to drive, dangerous driving, two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm in circumstances of aggravation, failing to stop after a traffic incident, failing to stop after property damage and possessing a prohibited drug (cannabis).

A 17-year-old girl from Redcliffe has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, an 11-year-old boy from Maddington has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle and an 14-year-old girl from Maddington has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle and stealing.

They will appear in Perth Children’s Court today.

An 11-year-old girl remains in Princess Margaret Hospital with back injuries.
