Police charge ex-Catholic Church priest with further historic child sex offences

POLICE have laid additional charges against an 83-year-old Subiaco man as a result of an extensive investigation into alleged historic child sexual abuse incidents.

Between 1969 and 1972, the man allegedly indecently assaulted a girl who was six years old at the time of the first offence.

At the time of the offences, the man was a priest at a Catholic church in Carlisle.

He has been charged with three counts of indecently assaulting a female and will appear before Perth Magistrates Court today.

In July, police charged the man with three counts of indecently assaulting a female during his time as a catholic priest in Carlisle and alleged he indecently assaulted a seven-year-old girl in 1970.

Prior to that, police alleged he physically and sexually assaulted seven children (girls and boys) aged between six and 12 years of age between 1979 and 1992 while working as a priest at a Shenton Park catholic church.

He was charged with six counts of indecent dealing with a child under 14 years, one count of unlawfully and indecently assaulting a male and two counts of unlawful assault.
