Police hunt man after elderly woman is attacked and robbed in St James

POLICE are appealing for information after a robbery in St James yesterday left an 88-year-old woman with a dislocated shoulder.

About 3:15pm the victim was walking south along a footpath on Albany Highway near Wyndham Street when she was approached from behind by a man.

He walked in front of her and tried to grab a shopping bag that was over her shoulder.

The woman held on to the bag which caused her to fall onto the footpath.

The man continued to pull at the bag, dragging the woman along the path before eventually getting the bag and running away.

The woman’s shoulder was dislocated during the incident and she also received a laceration to her leg.

She was assisted by members of the public who called St John’s Ambulance.

She is currently in a stable condition in Royal Perth Hospital.

The man in described as being in his early 20’s, fair skinned, stocky/athletic build, wearing black pants and a black t shirt.

Police would like to speak to anyone that witnessed the incident, saw a man matching the that description, or has dashcam vision of the area during this time.
