Police in saddle for vital role

The students quizzed Constables Erin Pullen and Sarah Price about how the horses are trained, how fast they run and who looks after them when they retire from duty.

St Pius X principal Daine Burnett said the purpose of the visit was to introduce the children to their local police officers while having a bit of educational fun.

I built up a relationship with the Kensington Police via social media and since then the local police have helped educate not only the students, but also the parents, Mr Burnett said.

We have had Constable Care at the school educating children and have been able to effectively deal with traffic, parking and speeding issues to make the school a safe zone for everyone.

Officer-in-charge of Kensington Police station Ashley Goy said regular school visits in the area were having a positive impact on the community.

Local police teams are part of the community and we want the kids to see us as their friends, he said.
