During the early hours of Monday, August 19, a 32-year-old Belmont man allegedly crashed a stolen, silver Ford Fairlane he was driving into a light pole on Epsom Avenue in Redcliffe.

The man allegedly fled the scene of the crash and assaulted a witness who tried to prevent him from escaping before police patrolling the area apprehended him.

A search of the damaged vehicle uncovered a large amount of property allegedly stolen during a series of offences throughout the metropolitan area at locations including Riverton, South Perth, Maylands, Innaloo and Churchlands.

Police allege the man snatched a bag from a victim in Churchlands, stole items from a motor vehicle, and committed fraud and aggravated burglaries.
