Police want information on sexual assault of woman found unconscious in Belmont

POLICE have appealed for two women to come forward, who they believe may have information about the sexual assault of an unconscious woman in Belmont.

The two women told officers at Belmont Police Station they had seen what they believed to be an unconscious woman on the footpath outside a business premises on Abernethy Road, Belmont.

It is believe the women were driving a red vehicle, pictured above, and had driven past the woman about 1:30am on Sunday.

Acting on the information provided by the women, police visited the location and found the woman.

The woman has since reported being sexually assaulted, and Sex Assault Squad detectives have taken carriage of the investigation.

The two women who attended the police station didn’t provide their details at the time, and they are asked to come forward and make contact with the detectives as they may have more information that could assist with the investigation.
