AFTER starting at Australia Post on the same day 30 years ago, Fred Cimmino and Scott Graham’s journeys are remarkably similar.

Mr Cimmino and Mr Graham are the managers of the Belmont Forum and Willetton post offices, respectively.

The duo took part in Australia Post’s postal clerk school on January 4, 1988 and have since worked at post offices around WA.

Mr Graham said they had been able to lean on each other’s advice over the years as they experienced many changes in their workplaces.

“Back when we started, there were no computers and there was no merchandise in the front of the shop,” he said.

“The technology is still evolving though and we are using tablets and the company even has its own app.

“The customer interaction each day means that you always have new experiences.”

Mr Cimmino said with the popularity of email, he frequently met young people who had not sent a letter before.

“I’m always happy to educate them how to write a letter,” he said.

“There is nothing nicer than receiving a personally addressed letter.

“I understand that people prefer to email and that’s fair enough but when someone takes their time to write you a letter, there is nothing nicer.”
