WITH new State laws coming into action last month, all dogs and cats must now be microchipped and registered or pet owners risk a fine of up to $5000.

The City of South Perth and Town of Victoria Park will be hosting a microchipping day at the Animal Care Facility in Como this Saturday.

Generally costing upwards of $60, animals can be microchipped for the reduced price of $35, with no booking required.

The event will also have goodie bags to satisfy pet owners and their furry friends.

Microchipping will also be available for rabbits, birds and other mammals.
