A QANTAS flight from Perth to Sydney has landed safely after being forced to return to Perth Airport due to an engineering issue.
Flight QF642 departed at 9:20am on Thursday, carrying 224 passengers, and returned to Perth an hour later.
A Qantas spokesman said reports the A330 aircraft had made an emergency landing were incorrect but fire crews had attended as a precaution.

READ NOW“The aircraft had an issue with one of its three hydraulic systems, which meant the landing gear was unable to retract,” the spokesman said.
“We are working to get customers to Sydney as quickly as possible and apologise for the disruption.”
Perth Glory A-League chief executive Tony Pignata was on board the flight.
“Well that wasn’t pleasant having to circle for a bit and land back in Perth after the landing gear failed to retract. Well done to the Qantas Captain and crew in getting us safely back on the ground and keeping us informed,” he posted on Twitter.
