South Perth councillor and learning centre deputy president Kevin Trent said the quilt symbolised the dedicated work that hundreds of volunteers had given to the centre over the years to ensure its success.

‘With the quilt completed, it’s suggested the City call for local quilters to create a heirloom quilt telling the history of South Perth. Should the merger with Victoria Park go ahead, it would be a fitting way to record a proud history.’
