Racing in Spring

SPRING racing is here and it kicks off at Ascot Racecourse on October 17 with Crown Perth Opening Day.

Racing isn’t the only thing being launched that day; Ascot will officially open its new facilities to patrons, which includes refurbished members areas, public viewing areas and open spaces.

The public and member floors have undergone a $2.5 million revamp and boast several bars, restaurants and private function areas.

Booths and artwork were designed specifically for Perth Racing.

It also includes the removal of grandstand seating to allow a decking area for members in the outdoor area.

A new addition includes a champagne bar for members when they arrive.

The 2000m track will also look different to regular patrons with a new mounting enclosure and finishing post.

Perth Racing marketing manager Robyn Fitzgerald said the revamp added sophistication the aged facility needed.

Another change is that Perth Racing has changed from a committee to establishing an eight-person board.

The board of directors, in a voluntary capacity, will add value to the business by bringing in additional skills and invaluable expert advice, provide strategic direction by setting the overall long-term planning of the business, oversee the performance, and ensure that an appropriate corporate governance framework is structured.
