River ferries launched

At 10m long, the Little Ferry Company vessels carry up to 11 passengers on the river between Elizabeth Quay and Claisebrook in East Perth.

Little Ferry Company creator Kevyn Townley said the ferries would target tourists and locals seeking to experience Perth in a unique way.

“In my view, Perth is big enough for a venture like this and the opening of Elizabeth Quay is a magical time to be our there having a go,” Mr Townley said. “And electric boats, there’s just something a little bit special about them.”

Riders on the Edwardian-styled boat can expect live commentary on the city’s focal points and significant indigenous places around the river.

Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said the service would be a welcome addition to the Elizabeth Quay development.

“It would provide a transport option for locals and tourists that has been missing from our water ways,” she said. “A distinctive vessel on the Swan River would complement Perth’s developing tourism market and showcase our gorgeous skyline from a different perspective.”
