River wall repair work set to start

Staff ReporterSouthern Gazette

Results from tonight’s council meeting will determine if the City accepts the lump sum tender of $1.8 million from MMM WA Pty Ltd for the South Perth promenade river wall replacement.

In May, Environment Minister Albert Jacob announced a State Budget allocation of $500,000 to go towards the cost of repairing the damaged walls in the Mends Street foreshore precinct.

The City of South Perth will match the funding. The walls will be strengthened, increased in height and will have wave reflection.
