ROMANCE novelists including New York Times bestselling authors Celeste Bradley and Keri Arthur will finish a national multi-author event in Lathlain next week.

The Australian Romance Readers Association hosted its first Romantic Rendezvous multi-author book signing series across the country this month.

Bradley and Arthur will be part of a 16-author line up alongside award winning novelists and indie writers in the Perth event.

Viveash author Rachael Johns said all romance novels being light and fluffy was one of the biggest misconceptions.

“In times of crisis, when there’s been recessions or wars, terrorist attacks, the romance sales often go up,” she said.

“If you read romance novels, they deal with important issues and more than just the quest for love.”

Hamilton Hill author Laura N Andrews said she hoped having New York Times bestselling authors here would lead to more book signing events in Perth.

“It should hopefully get romance readers to come out of the woodwork,” she said.

“When someone says ‘romance’ people think don’t think there’s much to it but the romance market is getting bigger and bigger.”

The Romantic Rendezvous event will be held at Lathlain Function Centre on March 31, 1.30 to 5pm.
