Students listened to success stories from special guests, including YouTuber and TV presenter Derek Muller, Chief Scientist of WA Professor Peter Klinken and Chevron’s Joseph Doleschal Ridnell.

The motivational morning tea was held at UWA’s Winthrop Hall as part of National Science Week 2015.

Scitech Science Cafe co-ordinator Colleen Kleinschmidt said studying science could lead to careers in a range of industries and the event helped connect students to industry professionals from leading organisations.

“From astrophysicists through policy advisers, it’s pretty inspiring to hear what pathways these people took and what a day in their job actually entails; it doesn’t always involve a white lab coat,” Ms Kleinschmidt said.
