COMMUNITY members scored a hole in one by raising money for worthwhile causes during a charity golf day in South Perth.
More than 100 people took part in the Royal Perth Charity Golf Day on November 11 with $32,000 raised for the Kensington Police and Community Youth Centre (PCYC), $15,000 for Protection WA and $5000 for Como Secondary College.
Committee chairman Wilf Sonntag said the money for the Kensington PCYC would help them run a drop-in centre on Friday nights.
“It will help them run activities for vulnerable people in the community and $5000 of that money will go to furniture,” he said.
“The money for Protection WA will help them run programs in primary schools while the money for Como Secondary College is for scholarships to help students with projects, books and other items.”
Mr Sonntag said about 130 people participated in golf and 180 people attended a dinner and auction during the evening.
“When the day was created 16 years ago the idea was to give back to the community,” he said.
“There were auction items that included a helicopter ride, a dinner for 12 and wine.”
