POLICE dog Storm tracked down an alleged car thief on Ford Street in Belmont last night.
Police attempted to pull the man over on Abernethy Road after they noticed the vehicle had incorrect plates.
The driver would not stop and evaded police through the suburbs of Belmont, Redcliffe and Ascot before police called off the chase.
The vehicle was found abandoned in Ascot and police dog Storm located the man on top of a water tank behind some stables.
A 41-year-old man of no fixed address will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today on various charges.
The charges include five counts of stealing, failure to stop, reckless driving to escape pursuit, no authority to drive, failure to stop after a crash and to report a crash.
The man also faces charges of possessing a weapon, a prohibited drug and possession of suspected stolen property.
