Students enjoy putting Eagles through paces

The AFL legend fielded questions and tackles from the students of St Maria Goretti’s Catholic School last week at an Auskick clinic alongside fellow players Luke Shuey and Ashley Smith.

‘They both try to get to the root cause ” the deep answers,’ Waters said.

‘If you want to know what you really look like ask your kids.’

Students quizzed the players on a range of topics including injuries, what they do in their spare time and who had faced up against Dockers captain Matthew Pavlich.

One teacher used the opportunity for the players to set an example for students and asked Shuey how the team behaved when lining up.

Shuey replied when players sang the |Australian National Anthem at the start of a game it was very important to know where they had to stand so players could line up quickly and quietly.

AFL plays a big role in St Maria Goretti’s sports program, with several events during the year.
