PERTH will have a closer connection to Margaret River, after it was announced today that seaplane day trips to the south west town will depart from Queen Street Jetty on the South Perth Foreshore.
Tourism company Swan River Seaplanes is set to take flight from Friday, with day trips to the wine region on Thursdays to Sundays set to boost the tourism industry.
The flights will depart from the jetty at 9am and arrive at Margaret River at 10am with tourists able to explore wineries before flying back to Perth at 3pm.

READ NOWThe seaplane can seat 12 people and the day trip will cost $795 per person.
The idea is the brainchild of One Eighty Marketing director Kristy Bailey and Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures owner Troy Thomas.
Ms Bailey said the idea behind the business was to get visitors the opportunity to see the city and coastline from a different angle.
“We identified that there are a lot of people in the city who don’t get the time to go down to Margaret River so we want them to be able to see these things,” she said.
“Hopefully they’ll develop a thirst for what Western Australia has to offer and come back again to experience the regions and it will have economic input as well.
“Perth has a lot of amazing things going on so we are thrilled to be a part of that
Tourism Council chief executive officer Evan Hall said he believed the experience would bring visitors into WA.
“The visitors will see the very best of Perth, the very best of Margaret River and the coastline in between,” he said.
“It’s a great product, which will mean new visitors and those visitors will bring more money into WA.”
City of South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty said she was pleased that the “underutilised gem of a river” had been chosen as the departure point for the aircraft.
“We are in a unique position to capitalise from the changes in the Perth CBD, which is undergoing an incredible transformation in form and function,” she said.
“The City of South Perth’s proximity to the City of Perth ensures that is an attractive place to live and invest in.
“The business community in the City of South Perth welcomes the Swan River Seaplanes.
“I’m confident by word of mouth, the business community will bring in interest in this new venture.
