WHEN parents dropped their children at Cuddles Early Learning and Childcare Centre in Carlisle on Thursday morning, they had no idea their little ones were in for a visit from Australia’s leader.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison had just finished a media announcement about removing level crossings when he did what campaigning politicians are trained to do, and stopped by the childcare centre’s play area to say hi to the children.
Meeting the Prime Minister might have been a lost on the hesitant youngsters, especially with a multitude of press and television cameras trained on them, but not so the star-struck educators.
“Two big guys came in earlier to the centre to ask if they could use the space next door and that it was to do with the Prime Minister but we didn’t really know what was going to happen,” centre manager Alona Dabuan said.
“We told the children we are going to meet the Prime Minister and we told them his name.
“It was a big opportunity for us educators and the children.”
