Club committee member Liz Frehner said the club would now pay $1 per hour per lane during training for the next 12 months, which would total about $3000. The rate will be renegotiated for the following financial year.
This is a significant reduction from the previous $5 per hour per lane proposed by the council.
Mrs Frehner said the club was grateful for the reduced lane hire fee and would meet with the Town this week to negotiate a longer agreement and a financially supportive system to ensure the club’s carnival could remain at the Aqualife Centre.
