Aaron CorlettSouthern Gazette

THERE will be a whirlwind of events, activities, exhibitions, projects and initiatives when the Town of Victoria Park hosts its third Arts Season during April.

The Town has more than 40 events in the program, which are catered to people of all ages, including classical music concerts, school holiday workshops for children and outdoor movies.

The council has allocated $20,000 for a grants program to distribute a number of small grants up to $5000 for approved projects delivered by community groups, not-for-profit organisations, businesses and individuals.

“The grant program is a really important element of the event, not just in terms of filling up the program, but in building the capacity of our community and helping groups and individuals to deliver something they might not otherwise have been able to,” Mayor Trevor Vaughan said.

Victoria Park Centre for the Arts general manager and artistic director Clare Szmekura said her organisation was delighted to be a program partner this year.

“The Arts Season provides a fantastic platform for the centre to showcase the diversity and calibre of our programming.

“We’re always excited to be a part of the program and this wonderful community initiative.”
