Town tackles parking problem on Oats ST

Staff ReporterSouthern Gazette

The Town of Victoria Park recently began work to formalise parking on both sides of the line at the train station to improve safety and to alleviate problems associated with commuter parking on nearby streets.

Victoria Park Deputy Mayor and Labor Candidate for Swan John Bissett said the work was part of the Town’s new parking strategy.

Also the first Chairman of the Town’s parking committee, Cr Bissett said unprecedented numbers of people began to park in Victoria Park four years ago when the City of Perth increased its parking fees.

‘A parking committee was formed and its focus was to protect the amenity of our own residents and businesses which was being severely affected by commuters,’ he said.
