Rebecca and Alex arrived at the Haven last month with more than 20 of their friends in pink and purple Hummers to visit the homeless cats.

The girls handed over $425 in cash, plus $100 in gift vouchers, given to them by friends and family.

Perth Stretch Hummers donated a further $100.

‘At the age of three, our parents thought we had everything we needed and decided to make a donation to charity instead of giving us gifts,’ Alex said.

On their fifth birthday, the girls were given the option to continue donating or receive gifts, and the girls decided to keep on giving.

They support several animal welfare organisations.

‘We decided to donate our present money to Cat Haven when we were just five as we love animals and have had so many in our lives,’ Rebecca said.

The twins also have an adopted cat from the Haven called Red Dog.

The girls asked their parents for a dog when they were younger, but were not allowed.

They were permitted to have a cat instead, which they promptly named Red Dog in honour of their desire for a canine, and eventually convinced their parents to allow a family dog as well.

‘It gives us such a good feeling to help, particularly places that don’t get a lot of acknowledgement and smaller charities, and we look forward to it each year,’ Rebecca said.
