Two people charged during hunt through southern suburbs

A MAN and a woman have been charged in relation to a series of burglaries after a hunt through Perth’s southern suburbs last night, in a joint operation between the mounted police and the canine unit.

It is alleged during October and November the two people were actively involved in committing various burglary and stealing offences across metropolitan districts.

At around 9.40pm last night detectives attended a home on Kooyong Road in Rivervale.

As police entered through the front door it is alleged a 33-year-old man fled through the back door and jumped several fences in an effort to evade arrest.

Police dog Razor was deployed and tracked the man to the front yard of a home on Fitzroy Road, where he was arrested and taken into custody.

He was charged with four counts of stealing, three counts of burglary, two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, two counts of breach of bail, aggravated home burglary, burglary with intent, criminal damage and possessing a prohibited drug (heroin).

A 30-year-old woman of no fixed address was charged with two counts of stealing, aggravated home burglary, home burglary and possessing drug paraphernalia.

They will appear at Perth Magistrates Court today.
