Victoria Park fuel station attendant detains alleged armed robber

A SERVICE station attendant overpowered a man who was allegedly carrying two knives and attempting to hold up an outlet in Victoria Park last night.

The alleged offender entered the Canning Highway business about 11.30pm.

He is accused of stealing items from the store before threatening the attendant when he was challenged.

A police spokesman said the pair got into a fight at the front of the store.

“Witnesses across the road at a restaurant saw the commotion and contacted police, before they walked across to offer assistance,” he said.

“Despite the (accused) offender (allegedly) having two knives strapped to his body, the operator managed to pin him to the ground, holding him until police arrived soon after.”

Investigators charged a 32-year-old East Cannington man with robbery.
