Victoria Park: suspected drug overdose puts nine in hospital

A SUSPECTED dangerous dose of drugs has put nine people from the same Victoria Park property in hospital overnight.

The victims are believed to be backpackers or students.

A police spokeswoman said officers arrived at the Colombo Street home about 11.40pm to find “numerous people in an unconscious or semi-conscious state”.

Four of the victims are in intensive care.

Three men are in Royal Perth Hospital, with two of them in the ICU.

Two men and a woman are in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, two of whom are also in the ICU.

A further two men and a woman are in Fiona Stanley Hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The spokeswoman said police believe the people are visitors to WA.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said nine crews were sent to the property with three area managers and a clinical support paramedic.
