A Perth Zoo spokesperson said they haven’t named the porcupette and its sex was undetermined at this stage.

It still had a lot of growing to do before it greets the public.

“Currently the porcupette is settling in well behind-the-scenes with mum Noko, dad Nzuri, and older siblings,” they said.

“It may be a while longer before this little one is seen running around in the exhibit as mum is keeping it in a quieter area.

“However they do have access to the main area so once the baby is bigger they may start to venture out more.”

“Visitors to Perth Zoo may have to be a little patient before they get a good look at our new porcupette in its exhibit, but in the meantime we will be sharing updates on its progress on the Perth Zoo social media pages so they can check in there,” they said.
