A WA Police constable has been stood down from operational duties pending the result of an investigation by the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU).

It’s alleged the officer used excessive force and inappropriate language during the arrest of a 16-year-old boy on Australia Day 2018.

The officer, from South Metropolitan District, is further alleged to have made inappropriate comments to the boy’s mother.

IAU investigations into the allegations are ongoing.
