On arrival, officers approached the house on foot and it is alleged the man attempted to ride his motorcycle towards them in an effort to evade arrest.

Before the man was able to accelerate, an officer pulled the man from the motorcycle causing them both to fall onto the driveway.

As officers were attempting to handcuff the man, it is alleged a large Bull Mastiff dog attacked one officer, latching onto his right calf.

The officer was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

A 43-year-old man from Redcliffe has been charged with obstructing police officers and two counts of breaching bail.

He was due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court yesterday.

The dog is currently impounded.
