WA’s lucky Lotto streak continues

Sophie MooreSouthern Gazette

ONE PERTH couple will not need to bet on a winner after claiming their $1.9 million in Saturday’s Lotto Superdraw.

The couple, who have been struggling financially, bought the division 1 winning ticket on a whim while out discount shopping.

“I couldn’t believe it when I checked the ticket. I just stood up and didn’t know what to do with myself. Then we started running around the house!” the couple told Lotterywest.

It is the second division 1 winning ticket Belmont News has sold in two months and the fifth win for residents of Cloverdale this year.

The win will take the financial pressure off the couple, who said the prize money would allow them to pay off debts, help family and friends, explore more of Australia and build a future .

“We won’t have to worry anymore, it’s just amazing. This will really change our lives.”

WA continued its lucky streak with another division 1 winner picking up $1 million prize in last Wednesday’s Lotto draw.

The Kelmscott woman, who bought her ticket from McCauley’s Lottery Centre in Orelia, had a sense she was about to come into some money but had no idea it would be such a handsome sum.

“I screamed when I checked my ticket and my family thought I must have fallen over. Then I started shaking and began crying.” she said.

“Not only can I get a home of my own, I’m able to tick a few things off my bucket list like sky diving, riding an elephant and parasailing.”
