Well-being prioritised

Its members are Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention chairman Neale Fong and Rural Health Workforce Australia chairman Ian Taylor. The team will explore issues and performance around workplace well-being programs and support structures.

"Both of these men are well-respected and have a great deal of experience in the areas of general health, mental health and suicide prevention," St John Ambulance chief executive Tony Ahern said. "Their independence, insight and understanding into what are very delicate and complicated issues will be greatly valued.

"One of the other roles of the panel is to give the organisation independent advice and recommendations about the current and former reviews, in relation to management and our processes relating to employee engagement, employment and well-being."

As well as establishing the panel, St John Ambulance will also employ two additional chaplains who will visit on-road ambulance crews and increase awareness about the organisation's broad range of well-being and support services.
