Willagee in big league

Staff ReporterSouthern Gazette

They convincingly defeated Joondalup Giants in the opening round last Saturday.

The game was played at the Bears’ home ground at Webber Reserve in Willagee. Willagee followed this the next week with a narrow loss (one try) to last year’s finals contenders Rockingham Sharks, away in Rockingham.

Last year’s successful Reserve grade team has stepped up and is competing in the WARL First Grade competition. This is the Bears’ 51st year in the competition. New club chairman and local Willagee boy Dave MacDonald is enjoying a successful beginning to his tenure at the head of the club.
