Woman charged by Child Abuse Squad for allegedly leaving children home alone and going overseas

A 28-year-old woman has been charged by police after allegedly leaving her two children – aged four and six – home alone while she went overseas.

Last Wednesday police attended an address in Cloverdale and gained entry to the residence through an unlocked door.

Upon entry, Police located the two children, who had been left alone since the previous day.

It will be alleged both parents were overseas at the time the officers entered the property.

The children were removed from the residence and placed into appropriate care.

On Thursday evening, Child Abuse Squad detectives arrested the mother at Perth International Airport, where she had been detained by Australian Border Force staff since her arrival on a flight.

The woman has been charged with two counts of ‘having the care and control of a child engaged in conduct knowing that conduct may result in harm to the child’.

She is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday June 22.
