Faulkner Park area works pave way for new Cloverdale community centre

Jessica WarrinerSouthern Gazette

WORK has begun within the Faulkner Park area and surrounding roads for the new community centre in Cloverdale.

As part of the Robinson Avenue extension works, a road closure will be in place on Wright Street between Belmont Avenue and Abernethy Road on May 20 and 27, and June 3 and 10, weather permitting.

City of Belmont chief executive Stuart Cole said the City was trying to keep disruption in the area to a minimum.

“At the end of this project, the new community centre will be a significant landmark building, which is a multi-purpose community hub that all our residents will benefit from,” Mr Cole said.

Twelve trees will be removed to facilitate the construction of the Robinson Avenue extension, two large fig trees adjacent to the Senior Citizens building will be protected during construction, and other trees will be relocated within the area.
