THE community will get the chance to quiz prospective Town of Victoria Park councillors during an event at the Victoria Park Carlisle Bowling Club.

The Vic Park Collective and Community Forum Victoria Park are hosting the event from 6pm tomorrow night, October 4.

Community Forum Victoria Park president David Ashton said he expected some of the area’s biggest issues to be played out.

“Among the hot topics in the Jarrah ward is expected to be the Harold Rossister reserve synthetic-hockey turf facility.

“In the Banksia ward, the redevelopment of the Lathlain precinct will get a run.

“I’d expect rates to get a run along with issues about whether the council communicates enough with the community about certain issues.

Mr Ashton said the candidates would be given three minutes to make a presentation before a question and answer session.

“It gives candidates the opportunity to get an idea about what the community wants to achieve,” he said.

“We also want to raise the profile of the election and to get more people participating, it’s a bit lower than it should be.”

Lathlain Primary School will be fundraising by providing a sausage sizzle.

“We are encouraging people to come along, enjoy a democracy sausage and engage with the existing and prospective councillors,” Mr Ashton said.

The event is free but people are asked to visit Eventbrite to register.
