RESIDENTS, schools and organisations are being encouraged to find more active ways for their daily commute or school drop as the Your Move project rolls into Victoria Park.
The Department of Transport is targeting a group of 1500 Victoria Park residents and two schools in the area – Ursula Frayne Catholic College and Victoria Park Primary School – as well as two businesses with about 2500 employees in the Kings Square commercial precinct in Perth CBD.
Department of Transport executive director of transport strategy and reform Brett Hughes said the daily commute to and from the CBD made up a large part of congestion in Perth.
“The Department of Transport is working with the Town of Victoria Park to encourage residents who commute to the Perth CBD and have good alternatives close by to incorporate walking, bike riding and public transport use into their routine more often, instead of just jumping in the car,” he said.
Town of Victoria Park chief executive Anthony Vuleta said he hoped the community took advantage of the support being offered.
Residents are encouraged to express their interest in taking part in the Your Move program by taking the short commute quiz at www.yourmove.org.au/quiz.
