The students produced scrapbooks of images using digital cameras exploring their past, present and future selves at the workshops, which ran from June 15-19.

Perth Airport executive general manager corporate affairs Fiona Lander said the airports Community Partnership Program focused on helping organisations that support youth, education, skills attainment and self-development.

As one of the sponsors of the World Press Photo exhibit, Perth Airport is proud to support such a worthwhile and valuable initiative that helps to develop the artistic skills of young people who have experienced some challenging experiences, she said.

This particular project gave the students an opportunity to be involved in a unique program and work with Brenda Ann Kenneally, who is an exceptional photographer and well known.

She said the work would be on show at the opening of the World Press Photo exhibit on June 23.

The public will be able to view the exhibit Seeing, Sharing and Honouring Ourselves: A Scrapbook Project by the youth at the Ruth Faulkner Public Library until July 24.
