THE unannounced explosion of fireworks also startled me after 8pm on April 14 (Fireworks shock, Gazette, April 26).
I recovered quickly, but not so the numerous flocks of birds that flew over my house, screeching piteously in distress and panic, as they exited the sanctuary of the surrounding trees.
