AS I enter or leave my driveway by car, I must and do give way to pedestrians on the footpath.
I have it on good authority that this rule applies also to the entrances of shopping centres, but find it rarely observed.
People rarely give way to me as a pedestrian near these places, and only a couple of days ago in my car, I paused and signalled a couple to go ahead across the shopping centre entrance, but they refused.
So fault on both sides.
It seems to be “honoured more in the breach than the observance”.
