Gas bill queried

I AM 91, live alone and have only a gas fire and a stove top, yet my gas bill for June, July and August was $609.50.

I rang the company to request an inspector to check if this was correct and they refused to send anyone.

I was told I could pay the bill in two parts, but I’m still not convinced my meter was even read.

I’m at a loss.
