Go By Ferry to South Perth

Janice TeoSouthern Gazette

IT was pleasing to read that more people are travelling on the ferry to South Perth.

I was also pleased that a small tourist ferry is now operating from Elizabeth Quay to Claisebrook. I wish them well with their new venture.

I have always been an advocate of using our river for passenger ferries for pleasure and an alternative way to get to the city and sporting venues.

A good start would be a ferry service to Point Walter, every hour with connecting buses from Fremantle and the suburbs.

Point Walter is very a pleasant part of the river to visit with its safe, protected sandy beach and many shady trees.

There is a good jetty to land ferry passengers. It also has an excellent restaurant, a public golf course, tennis courts and good walking paths along the river.

Tourism and transport are very important to our State; let us use our river more.
