Law makes wrong turn

HELEEMA RAWLINGS, RivertonSouthern Gazette

I think Western Australian drivers are not capable enough for this law to be enacted.

Most are careless, negligent and irresponsible. Many are often in a rush and would take advantage of this new law and misuse it by unsafely turning left to cut the time of travel.

Moreover, this law would just cause more worry for drivers. As it is, many drivers get distracted easily and tend not to apply their full attention on the road.

Western Australia has had many deaths so far and it’s only the third month of the year. That is a large number for not even 70 days.

In 2012, 182 people died on our roads. That’s equivalent to just under a death every two days.

As a car accident survivor, I believe this law would cause more deaths on our roads.

Figures like those are what concern me about driving again.
