MARGO Gould in her letter in last week’s edition headlined “Suburbs change’ again takes a swipe at “public housing”, which I find both tiresome and disgusting.
By writing that “Rivervale has the same location attributes as the western suburbs with its closeness to the river’ is Ms Gould implying that only the aspiring middle class and the well-heeled be allowed to enjoy and live to the closeness and aesthetic qualities of the Swan River?
How far from health care, public transport, employment, job opportunities, and educational facilities does Ms Gould think public housing tenants should be placed?
Shunting public housing tenants to outlying areas would only serve further to marginalise the most vulnerable in society.
From the tone of Ms Gould’s letter, it would seem that the Simpson Desert wouldn’t be far enough away.
