Owner Pauline Christidis said a prominent train-builder family built the home in 1904. Their vision was for it to be a hotel, however the wife became sick and it never eventuated.

“The property was featured in the ABC series Who’s Been Sleeping in My House, StyleAid did a photoshoot in the house a few years ago and it was also used in a local film production,” Pauline said.

“It is an amazing house with a personality all of its own, very embracing and nurturing, and its history has made it what it is.”

Some of the home’s many original period features include soaring pressed-metal ceilings, chandeliers, decorative architraves, ornate fireplaces and mantelpieces.

Entertain in the large lounge room and banquet dining room, with the spacious chef’s kitchen making dinner parties simple.

Five bedrooms, plus an upstairs sitting room and attic space, means there is room for the whole family, as well as visitors.

“The house has been perfect for the growing family, lots of space for the four boys and it is a secure place for the young adult parties we have had,” Christine said.

“It is a beautiful historic building and deserves to be looked after for future generations.

“It really is a true icon for WA people.”
