The current owners bought the house as a renovation project to sell on and have gone all out to create a fantastic family dwelling.

“I was initially attracted to Number Six for either one of my three daughters,” one of the owners said.

“Unfortunately it was way too much work for any of them to take on, so I told my husband that we should buy it and renovate it.

“I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to restore the home to its former glory and it’s been an overall love affair that has developed during the process.”

The house has been transformed from floor to ceiling, with new lime-washed blackbutt floors, modern fittings and fixtures, a fresh design inspired by homes in the Hamptons and even a change in the layout.

“Although we set out to do only minor changes, along the way we conducted a major floor plan change to encompass all the things required in our modern-day living while still trying to keep the charm of its origins,” the owner said.

Alongside five bedrooms and three bathrooms, the spacious open-plan dining and family flows from the kitchen, which features Caesarstone benches, a walk-in pantry and banks of drawers.

The covered alfresco area is perfect for year-round entertaining.
