ASCOT Racecourse will make history this year as it becomes the first course in the world to stage races worth $1 million on three consecutive Saturdays.

Perth Racing announced this week the reprogramming of WA’s three group one races taking place in November.

“We’re going from having one super Saturday to three,” Perth Racing chairman Neil Pinner said.

“Other racecourses around the globe, including Doomben, Morphettville and Randwick in Australia, host Group One races on back-to-back-to-back Saturdays but Ascot in Perth will be the first at which each of the main events will boast at least $1,000,000 in prize money.

“Our Group One race program revamp is part of our commitment to create iconic events that bring people together in Perth to share unique racing and non-racing social experiences.”
