PEOPLE are being encouraged to head to Ascot Racecourse for the beginning of the annual racing carnival.
The Ascot Racing Carnival begins today and includes 13 meetings until December, which includes 12 Saturday meetings and one Tuesday meeting, when the nation stops for the Melbourne Cup.
This year’s carnival is set to unveil a number of new experiences for racegoers, with exciting drinking and dining options showcasing the multi-million-dollar revamp of Perth’s premier racing venue.
Fraser’s Restaurant Group executive chef Chris Taylor has been hands on assisting Perth Racing with the design of both new menus to tease the tastebuds of racegoers and the refurbished Ascot Racecourse kitchens, which are set to turn out thousands of top-class dishes from Opening Day through to Perth Cup Day on New Year’s Eve.
The nominations for the Ascot Racing Carnival’s three Group One races – the Railway Stakes, the Winterbottom Stakes and the Kingston Town Classic – include last year’s respective champions, Good Project, Buffering and Perfect Reflection, as well as many other first-rate racehorses.
Together, these three Group One races will form The Masters; the world’s first single-track event featuring a Group One race worth at least $1 million on three consecutive Saturdays.
Perth Racing chairman Neil Pinner said with the facilities being upgraded, the track being renovated and reprogrammed races, his organisation was ready for the carnival.
“We’ve made so many fantastic additions to Ascot Racecourse, including VIP areas, new pop-up bars and a new big video screen on the exterior of the 1900 Bar adjacent to the Bookmakers Pavilion,” he said.
“We’re encouraging all Perth sports fans, and those looking for a great day out with friends, to come and take a new look at our venue.”
