PERTH Redbacks are entering into a new era after launching a modern jerseys and a fresh logo.

After wearing the new white away jerseys in a few matches, the team will put on the red home outfits on Friday night against the Stirling Senators at Belmont Oasis.

General manager Christian Rice said the club wanted to respect its heritage while also using something that would take it forward.

“This is only our third logo since the club formed in 1964 and the process took about 18 months with about 100 concepts discussed,” he said.

“Ultimately, we wanted to modernise the spider while also keeping in the date 1964 and using the whole name Perth Redbacks.

“The feedback we’ve got since launching everything has been amazing, we want it to be more than just a logo because we want it be our brand.

“We are also using Perth on our away strips to own that name and Redbacks on our home jerseys.”

The men’s and women’s teams have started the season well with both sitting third on the ladder.

“It’s been a great start to the season, especially for the women who came in with a new coach (Charles Nix) and a new group,” Rice said.

“They are well ahead of where we thought they be while the men’s team is going great and there are some more pieces to come in.”
